Situated in the foothills of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro, the Amboseli Sopa Lodge nestles in 190 acres of beautiful Masai woodland.
Surrounded by wooded gardens with thorn trees, acacias, cacti, frangipanis and colorful bougainvillea, you can relax, watch the wildlife, and feel you are simultaneously in the heart of the bush and the lap of luxury.
Accommodation at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge is set out in 83 rooms, some of which can be turned into triple rooms and have adjoining doors – ideal for families on safari.
Dining at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge takes place in the Kibo Restaurant, named after Mount Kilimanjaro’s tallest peak. It is a delightful round construction with an authentic thatched roof. There is a central fireplace, which is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view of the mountain right out the window. The color scheme is red, mustard and brown, lending the place a warm, bush-like ambience. The Mawenzi Bar is furnished with beautiful African driftwood furniture. The windows afford yet more views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and the outdoor terrace is a great place to take your nightcap. Hemingway’s Bar, built as a house for the great man himself features a beautiful marble fireplace decorated with stones, carved wooden stools and leather chairs. This bar sits at the very top of the property and gives out onto the watering hole, frequented often by thirsty elephants. This child-friendly property boasts a swimming pool plus child’s pool, a pool bar where one can obtain drinks and snacks and offers a babysitting service. Board games are available at reception.
